USGBC expands LEED Earth campaign

The U.S. Green Building Council has expanded its LEED Earth campaign to homes, communities and cities. LEED Earth is designed to bring LEED to countries where sustainable building is still emerging.

LEED Earth now includes LEED for Residential and LEED for Cities and Communities. LEED for Residential certifies sustainable homes that use less energy and fewer resources. LEED for Cities and Communities helps local leaders create sustainable plans for energy, water, waste, transportation and other factors affecting quality of life.

USGBC also will extend LEED Earth benefits to the first LEED Platinum project in any country to certify using LEED v4.1, the most recent version of LEED. Consideration for new LEED Earth projects began in March.

Launched in 2013, LEED Earth has enabled significant global growth of “green” building, taking LEED from 140 countries to nearly 200. LEED is the most widely recognized green building rating system in the world and supports USGBC in bringing the environmental and human health benefits of sustainable buildings to all.
